A Message from Keith Pearson, President & CEO
As 2017 draws to a close and I look back on all that has happened this year, it’s treasured professional relationships that often bring up my fondest memories. Our team at Pearson Partners is honored to have served many longstanding clients this year, and we’ve been delighted to welcome new clients into the Pearson Partners family as well. We’re proud to have been named one of America’s Best Executive Recruiting Firms by Forbes this year, and to have celebrated a milestone 15 years in business. As you can see, it has been a particularly exciting year for all of us here, and we never forget that you’re the reason why. Thank you for allowing us to do what we do best: Help your business grow.
This time last year, in the wake of an unusual election, we weren’t quite sure what to expect from 2017. We conclude each year with a Spotlight SeriesSM breakfast focused on what the new year may have in store, and I’m glad to say that this time, the picture in the crystal ball is a bit clearer.
At our most recent breakfast on December 5, we invited a panel of experts to talk about what may be in store for us in 2018 and beyond. The discussion covered the impact that tax reform and deregulation might have on businesses and how companies might decide to spend any cash that is freed up as a result. Our panelists also gave their best predictions of what we might expect from the stock market, oil and gas, and our increasingly digital economy. These are heady times, and while no prediction is ever set in stone, it’s clear that 2018 is shaping up to be something worth looking forward to.
I sincerely hope that each of you has an opportunity to pause to reflect on your own highlights from the past year and to enjoy this wonderful season with your friends and family. Best wishes from all of us at Pearson Partners for a very happy holiday season and a prosperous and joyful New Year.

After a rollercoaster year of disruption and change, 2017 is now on the books. What’s in store for the new year? We asked a panel of experts to weigh in at our recent Spotlight SeriesSM breakfast. The far-ranging conversation covered the potential impact of tax reform and deregulation; trends in oil, gas and energy; the new digital economy; the stock market and much more. While nobody can truly predict the future, our panelists seem to think that 2018 is shaping up to be a good year for business.

Mind Reading for Managers
Businesses invest money, time and training into their staff, but up to 80 percent of employees are not actively engaged. Unsatisfied employees are at higher risk of seeking new employment elsewhere, and replacing them is a costly process. At our October 17 HR Roundtable, we invited author and expert Kim Seeling Smith, founder and CEO of Ignite Global, to talk about how to overcome these challenges using her “Five FOCUSed Conversations for Greater Employee Engagement and Productivity.”
